I have always been into art and crafts but rediscovered it a few years back after starting a hand crafted gift shop. My daughter was old enough that I could have a hobby again and the crafting bug hit full on. I learnt and tried many different crafts like needle and wet felting, macrame, lino printing, silver jewelry making, quilling, weaving and of course knitting and crochet. Fused Glass was the craft I completely fell in love with. I started small with a really tiny and not very good kiln and just kept going. Being able to incorporate my painting into my glasswork is like putting sprinkles on the top of a cake.
I love the different ways you can use and fuse glass and that it is as practical as artistic and then the technical aspect brings another level. I also love the vibrancy of the colours and the way the way it moves, folds and behaves in the kiln. I was always meant to be a fused glass artist, I only wish that I had found it earlier.
