I started screenprinting almost ten years ago. At first it was something I did to inject a bit of creativity into my life, something to distract from my day job. It didn’t take me long to realize that I wanted screen printing to be a bigger part of my day to day life, but definitely a while before I got the courage to go for it.
I cannot imagine tiring of screen printing; I love everything about it’s busy nature, from jet washing screens and mixing inks to pulling an inky squeegee across the screen. I’m lucky enough to print and sell my work in shops and galleries and also to pass my inky knowledge on to others through my work as a screen printing tutor.
I am currently a Screen printing Fellow at the Royal Academy in London. I work with the MA students if they need support or advice on screen printing. I also get to print in Britain longest running art school, established in 1769!
My work is bold and textural; I am inspired by a broad array of things from sculpture, ceramics, architecture and textiles, particularly from the midcentury era.
