About Jonathan Korejko Papermaking

Jonathan Korejko Papermaking

Papermaking is endlessly creative and exciting, and I learn something new each day: Every Paper Tells a Story !

All of the papers are 100% handmade by me! I'm full time professional papermaker, teacher and demonstrator, and I travel all over the UK talking to people about this wonderful product. I use different sorts of pulp from recycled paper, trees, cotton, ground up rags, and things that we grow in the garden . I'm lucky because my wife is a trained horticulturist, so she chooses and grows plants specifically for me. Our plot is full of daffodils and tulips, marigolds, clematis, roses, grasses, not to mention trees with fruit and trees with pretty leaves. We even grow horse radish and celery to harvest the fibres in these plants to make amazing papers. And that's just the plant side of things: I am also an experienced scrounger ! Working at indoor and outdoor craft and trade shows brings me into contact with fellow craft workers who have discarded waste which I can use in my papers. There are loads of colourful bits and pieces to collect, like strips of silk from a batik painter, or the horse hair padding from a recently restored old chair. Other ingredients which have been given to me include cotton and silk threads, raw woollen fleece, yarn, feathers, cotton wadding, dog hair, iron filings, slate dust, leather strips, string, and zip fasteners, as well as banana skins, used tea bags, and coffee grounds from the caterers. But my favourite is cocoa powder from the confectioners: chocolate paper has got to be seen to be believed! My adage : Every Paper Tells a Story
