Polymer Clay Artist creating high quality polymer clay jewellery, accessories and decorations

Hi I'm Jen, the designer and creator behind Doodling In Clay. I live in the beautiful west Wales countryside with my Husband. Together we home school our 4 Children and enjoy life with our 2 crazy Dogs and a very old slightly plump Cat.

My small business journey started 10 years ago when I made my own Wedding Cake Topper. Within a year I was creating sugar icing cake toppers for birthdays, weddings and christenings for customers all over the UK.

People were always so impressed with the level of detail in my models, someone suggested that I make them with Polymer Clay so they could be proudly displayed and last forever.

My first attempt with Polymer Clay did not go well, its actually very difficult to work with at first, nothing at all like sugar icing! Determined to make it work I watched lots of YouTube videos for tips and tutorials, i soon became a lot more comfortable using this new medium.

For a few years I created cake toppers, then I started a new business creating personalised portraits, my most popular items were pet sculptures, my award winning family sculpture baubles and my framed clay portraits. As much as I enjoyed creating these beautiful unique portraits for my customers I found the pressure of creating personalised items too much. Having young children my time was very stretched, someone was always ill and generously sharing their lurgy with me, I found keeping up with the demand for my products too much and had to step back.

When I had my 4th Child I took a break from my business for a couple of years but found I really missed not having a creative outlet! So I took to the tools again, creating Doodling in Clay, this time offering high quality Jewellery, Accessories and Decorations. I really like the scope for creating new designs this gives me, there is always new ideas popping up in my head and its such a joy to create them and share them with the world.

Next year I'm hoping to expand my business by offering clay cutters, stamps and tutorials to help others learn the joys of creating with polymer clay!
