About Manic Minds Art

Manic Minds Art

Manic Minds transforms lived experience into handmade art that sparks conversation, challenges stigma, and amplifies awareness for mental health and neurodiversity.

About Us – ManicMinds

ManicMinds was created from lived experience, not theory. It exists to raise awareness, understanding and acceptance of mental health and Neurodiversity, grounded in real life rather than abstract ideas.

Founded by two sisters, diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder with Psychotic Features, the name itself emerged during a manic episode, reflecting both the intensity and creativity that shape our experiences. What began as something deeply personal, has grown into something purposeful.

Mental Health and Neurodiversity are not distant concepts for us. They are part of our everyday lives. Within our family, we represent a range of experiences, including: Bipolar Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Dyslexia. As a parent to a child with ASD, this understanding extends beyond personal experience, into family life, shaping how we see the world and the support that is needed within it.

My son is also part of that expression. At times, he independently contributes to the creation of our handmade pieces, bringing his own ideas, perspective and creativity, into the work. His talent and love of art stand alongside ours, not as an addition but as an equal part of what ManicMinds represents.

We know these experiences come with challenges, stigma and misunderstanding. They also come with depth, creativity and individuality that are often overlooked. ManicMinds was built to hold all of that truth at once.

Through handmade art, we express what is often difficult to put into words. Each piece is raw, honest and intentionally unpolished, reflecting real emotions and lived experiences, rather than an idealised version of them. The aim is not perfection, but connection. Our work exists to challenge stigma, highlight the complexity of Neurodivergent minds and create something people can recognise themselves in.

At its core, ManicMinds is about creating space. A space where conversations can happen openly, where misconceptions are questioned and where people feel seen, heard and understood without needing to explain or justify themselves.

This is more than a brand, it is a reflection of resilience, honesty and human experience in its most unfiltered form. Every piece carries part of a story, not refined or softened, but real.

Because awareness does not come from polished narratives, it comes from truth.
