FLEURS... I Press Flowers and make HANDMADE... Original Pictures and Greeting cards, which can be framed as keepsakes.
Hello, my name is Jackie and my brand name is called FLEURS. It's a French word, which means flowers. However, I am British and live in the UK. I just love this name, it sounds so elegant.
I started pressing my garden flowers and flowers sourced locally, with intent to become professional, this February 2026.
My photo header, which I picked from my garden this morning, 7th September 2026, is of deep purple Gladioli, a pink Gladioli, scarlet Holly-Hocks and Lemon Sundae, which look like yellow daisies.
Gladioli are a beautiful flower, but I have found them to be one of the most challenging to press. Petals have so much moisture, the blotting papers need changing frequently during the first 48 hrs of pressing or they will go mouldy.
So, when you see a... RARE... GLADIOLI flower in my artwork, know that it took dedication, patience and love to press it.
I am a fine artist with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Textile Design. Years ago I painted flowers on silk fabric. I also worked with Pastel, Watercolour and Acrylic, selling pictures in Greece, Spain and the U.K.
My love and passion for flowers, progressed to a wooden flower press in 2025. Where I experimented with an odd idea to stich flowers onto fabric This didn't work, it was too delicate. So, I practised and practised, with lots of sad sighs when flowers faded or didn't press well.
This didn't stop me, as I believe in NEVER giving up. Eventually, the results started coming through with beautifully pressed roses and flowers picked form my garden and locally sourced.
I use traditional wooden presses, with flowers needing a week or two or three to be ready. Then, with non-toxic glue I stick them to watercolour paper creating pictures and greeting cards. After drying time, I apply a sealant on top to preserve the delicate flowers.
My passion for pressing is abundant, as I feel this is where I want to go with my creative hand. Picking and pressing is such a rewarding and peaceful activity. It requires a lot of patience, precision, and dedication, but the bonus is the result, the extra bonus is when someone loves my work and wants to buy it.
My energy and love goes into each creation. Each piece is original, no prints, with unique designs. No picture or card is the same.
I press many different flowers, Poppies, Roses, Daisies, Buttercups, Iris's, anything that catches my eye.
