Hi, I'm Keri and I love to craft! I'm a married Mum of three teenage girls and live in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire. I have a couple of crazy dogs, one is a husky mix who we rescued from Romania and the other a naughty little sausage dog (he is very cute though!).
I've always been fairly creative, as I child I was always drawing or making things out of bits of cardboard, wood or anything I could that I thought I could turn into something else! I often had to improvise and things didn't always go to plan, but I had great fun trying!
When my children were young, there was nothing I loved more than helping them with their homework if there was anything requiring a bit of creativity! I stayed clear of the mathematics homework though, I left that to my Husband!
Fanciful Furnishings began when I discovered what I could do with the humble napkin, I was painting and decorating furniture using a technique called napkin decoupage which can give some stunning results. Over the years, I have continued to paint and decorate wooden items, I've created hundreds of personalised items for children and adults and decorated items for every season but in particular, Christmas.
However, it is only in the last couple of years that I have discovered that I love to sew! Although I grew up watching my Mum sewing clothes, often creating her own patterns from newspaper, it wasn't until in was in my early 50's that I decided to get out the sewing machine that had sat in my cupboard for about 15 years and give it a go. My love of sewing had developed from there. I don't make clothing currently, that may come in the future but for now, I love to create really pretty or fun items for children and adults. There are so many amazing fabrics available that I am literally addicted to purchasing new fabrics before I have used what I have already got!
I do work full time so creating is very much a pastime for me rather than a profession, it's my way to unwind and keep the creative side of me satisfied.
I hope you like what you find in my shop, everything I make is made with love. I always strive to make sure that my products are of excellent quality and the feedback I have to date suggests that I am achieving this. I am also passionate about trying to make my items a little different to other crafters so what you buy from me is unique and you won't find another item exactly the same. As my confidence grows, I am thinking up new designs myself rather than buying patterns 'off the shelf'. I also put a lot of time and effort into searching for fabrics which match or co-ordinate and set each other off well when used together which always helps the finished article look great.
I am happy to create custom orders if you cannot find what you want in my shop already, I can also personalise items to make them unique to you or the person you are buying them for.
