Thank you for visiting my little shop, Fairytale Mosaics.
I’m Julie, and I’ve always been drawn to anything magical, mystical, spiritual — and, of course, mosaics! There’s something wonderfully enchanting about creating art from tiny pieces of glass, tile and mirror, and I love seeing how they come together to create something completely unique.
My love of mosaics began many decades ago when I bought my very first mosaic mirror at Greenwich Market in London. I still have that same mirror hanging on my bathroom wall today! Over the years, my collection has grown, with pieces I’ve discovered myself alongside some very special mosaics given to me by friends and family.
A little while ago, I finally decided to take a mosaic-making course and, after years of admiring the art form, began creating my own pieces.
I currently work with Mexican glass ceramic tiles, cut glass and mirrors, choosing colours, textures and shapes to bring each design to life. One of my favourite things about mosaics is the way they can change throughout the day. As the light moves across the glass and mirrors, different colours and little flashes of sparkle appear, making the artwork feel almost alive.
I’m still relatively new to creating mosaics, but I’m loving every minute of the journey. I feel that I learn something from every piece I make, and I’m gradually challenging myself with more intricate and adventurous designs.
For now, all my mosaics are created for indoor use, but I’m hoping to expand my collection to include outdoor creations in the future.
