I graduated from the School of Jewellery, Birmingham, in 2005. I was based in London for a number of years, splitting my time between my workshop at Craft Central and working as personal assistant to renowned jeweller Wendy Ramshaw. I recently returned home to Liverpool.
My work is constantly informed by a love of pattern and colour and I often work in non-precious materials, sometimes in combination with sterling silver.
The inspiration for my collection 'Omoide' came from my second trip to Japan. I travelled alone and found peace and solitude in Kyoto. I took a walk from Gion to Kiyomizu-dera and found myself happily lost amongst the side streets. A tiny paper shop drew me in with a myriad of patterns and colours and the collection was born. Settings crafted from sterling silver are made to catch real pieces of the beautiful printed papers that caught my imagination under a protective resin.
I've been in love with Japanese textiles and patterns for many years. An avid collector of Kimono, my kanzashi inspired brooches are made from kimono fabrics from garments that can no longer be worn.
