Designed with a Twist was born from creative minds in the spare room of our home in the cold and windy County Durham. The company is owned by myself, Corinne and my husband John. We have always been partial to some DIY prop making, crafts and learning new skills when one day we wanted to attend a fancy-dress party dress as survivors of a nuclear apocalypse (from the popular video game) but we just could not find the right materials to make our own survival kit. This led to a very spontaneous 3d printer purchase to print the pieces we needed and then make moulds of them to replicate the pieces for both outfits.
Not surprisingly we were thrown back to reality when it arrived, and we didn't have a clue what to do with it except make lots of multicoloured plastic spagetti! Now, 6 years later we consider ourselves near experts in the field of using equipment such as resin and filament 3d printers, laser cutters and clay to make high quality, professional and durable silicone moulds with fabulously unique, quirky and sometimes downright creepy designs.
We always keep the end user in mind ensuring that our moulds work well for a multitude of mediums including resin, wax, chocolate and clay to name a few. Whilst the majority of our moulds are optimised for wax, meaning they are flexible and easy to demould they are food safe and can withstand temperatures up to 230 degrees Celsius for short periods of time.
