Have pencil, will doodle :)

Hello, my name is Jane Anderson (aka currentstate), I'm a designer and illustrator based in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. I set up Currentstate Studio over a decade ago, whilst working as a senior designer in the NHS. Having spent 18 years in the industry, primarily focusing on brand identity, print and corporate design, I was keen to stretch my legs and work on a few more personal projects. I've always had a passion for illustrating, and I especially love drawing inspiration from the nature.

My colourful illustrations are created through a mixture of analog and digital techniques. I love the ease of creating new designs on my Ipad Pro, but also love to spend hours doodling with just a sketchbook and a pencil. My illustrations have been featured in a number of publications such as Wallpaper Magazine, Computer Arts, Frieze, Amelia’s Magazine and Design Week, as well as being exhibited & sold nationally, including at the V&A, London.

When I'm not doodling away, I work as a graphic design lecturer at Birmingham City University. I absolutely love teaching the next generation of creatives, sharing everything I know :)
