`A piece of my creativity just for you`

Hi, I’m Margaret and I’ve been sewing since before I went to school aged 5. I trained as a fashion designer when I left school and worked in the fashion industry for many years before having a family. Being creative with fabrics and making things that are handmade, unique, and individual just runs through my veins.

As my family is now grown up and flown the nest, I felt it was time to pick up where I left off and start designing and sewing again.

Craftedonboard came about when I moved onto my narrowboat with my husband and started to look at what I could make in my small design studio. I have always loved wearing jeans, I started to create my collection of recycled bags when I realized just how many denim jeans were sent to landfill.

Did you know, by some estimates, 6 billion jeans are produced a year, and 30% of those (1.8 billion jeans) never even get worn?
Studies indicate that 2.16 million tons of waste are generated from jeans annually.

I love using the denim from the jeans and incorporating the detail of the pockets into my bag designs, this gives my items a unique quality, as no two items are the same.

All the denim jeans I decide to use go through a cycle of high-temperature washing, deconstruction, design, cut, sew, and quality check process by myself.

I like to finish my bags off with a brand new cotton/ polycotton lining fabric to compliment the design.
