Cotton Clara - Bright Modern Embroidery Kits and more

Welcome to Cotton Clara! My aim is to bring inspiring pops of colour into your life through the products I design and the DIY tutorials I create!

About me
I live in Loughborough with my husband and two young boys. Starting Cotton Clara was driven largely by my desire to redesign my career so that it worked around my children and allowed me to be at home for them. I started working on the business in November 2014 and made the decision to work full-time on the business in September 2017.

I originally studied textile design at Loughborough, and have always had a love of pattern, colour and traditional embroidery techniques. As well as producing colourful handmade products, I love to create modern DIY and embroidery kits that are accessible to those who don't feel like confident crafters but want to have a go at making something handmade. My kits are also great for children from about 6 years old and up.

I love creating new products and responding to interiors trends, I want my products to be at home in Hobbycraft and Heals!

Products
You can find a range of colourful products in my shop. I use a variety of techniques to design new products all the time. I use a laser cutter to cut designs into wood and acrylic which you can then stitch at home, or can be stitched by me. These range in size from tiny wooden banners to large A2 sized art pieces to mount on your wall or picture ledge. I love to use positive slogans or words in my products, so that not only is the colour making you smile, but so do the words.

I also use fabric, (Liberty prints are one of my favourite) and wood to create unique home decor products, hanging banners, flowers, cake toppers.

DIY
As well as designing products for your home, I love to write craft tutorials, and write for Mollie Makes and Reloved magazines. I post regularly on my blog and like nothing better than a quick and easy project, something you can do in an evening. Upcycling is also a love of mine, trawling charity shops for furniture or other pieces to give a new lease of life to is one of my favourite things to do! I also love to blog about the challenges and the exciting journey that is starting a small creative business, and try to be as honest as possible in my posts to encourage other people to follow their dreams too.
