Hi and welcome to Copper Cauldron Designs - so called because I often feel that what I do is a bit like throwing all the elements into a cauldron, waving a magic wand, murmuring an incantation or two and hey presto "A beautiful piece of Art" is created.

I come from an arty background, my mum, Jeannie Jones, was a potter - she's retired now but if you live locally and like to go to craft fairs you might still have one of her Candle Cottages or Dragons on your mantlepiece. My step dad Dave Millward is a retired stained glass artist and again if you live on the Wirral you may have heard of him...it was Dave that started me on glass projects and he's passed on a lot of know how as well as his left over supply of glass.

I mainly use copper for my jewellery pieces... especially scrap piping and old electrical wire because as well as helping to preserve this precious natural resource it gives me such pleasure to think that the metal has had a previous life doing a useful functional job and can be transformed into beautiful pieces of art that can be worn for all occasions and that nobody else will be wearing!

I also make stained glass suncatchers and ornaments and have recently started to incorporate the coloured glass with the copper into my jewellery and the results are stunning. The glass earrings really come to life when the light shines through them. I also try to recycle glass were possible and many of my earrings started life as part of old lead light window panels.

My style is rustic and bohemian and I love to make statement pieces that shout out "look at me!" They're big and bold and totally unique, in fact even when I try to duplicate them they turn out differently each time as the very nature of hammering and shaping metal means that each piece is going to be one of a kind even if the difference is only very subtle.

I live in New Brighton on the Wirral Peninsular (just a "Ferry across the Mersey" from the beautiful city of Liverpool) and am lucky enough to be near the sea - it gives me a lot of inspiration for my pieces, in fact most of my creations are inspired by nature. I walk my mums dog "Lady the Lurcher" on the beach or through the parks and woodlands and am constantly bombarded with ideas for both my glass and jewellery pieces. The shape of a leaf or petal, dewdrops on a cobweb, sunbeams shining through the trees, watching the sea anemones in rock pools - they all make me want to rush home and start designing my next glass or copper creation.
