My first set of kits and patterns are being finalised and will be available here soon. I'm looking forward to sharing them with you. In the meantime, save my Folksy shop to your favourites to check back in later so you don't miss out. Hope you have a lovely day :) Nic
Here are some things just listed by other crafters and sellers on Folksy.
Hi, I'm Nic, born and bred in Greater Manchester where I live with my partner and dog. My background is in IT and research. Both can be very stressful (especially as a neurodivergent person) and over the last 10+ years I've found sewing to be a great way to get creative and engage in something that helps me to relax in a kind of 'active rest' kind of way. This has become increasingly important as I tackle the health conditions that have caused me to give up my job. Sewing has helped me to feel useful at a time when, frustratingly, I'm often unable to do the things I used to be able to, and it brings me an immense sense of satisfaction when I bring to life something my imagination has created. Seeing the things I've made in my home every day gives me a little bit of that feeling every time I see them. I'd love for others to be able to experience that too.
I enjoy creating original quilt patterns in bold, modern designs to make things for my home. I want to share the designs with the world in case there are other people who have a similar style and can't find what they want from either shops selling homeware or in traditional quilt patterns. So I've created patterns and kits to help people to recreate my makes without having to go through the frustration of doing the maths or experiencing fabric colour-selection-fails.
I want to make quilting as accessible as possible and have this in mind when creating the designs, instructions and kits. I try to ensure that there's something for all levels of sewing experience - from those who have never sewn through to experienced sewists looking for something a bit different.
All my kits contain natural fibre thread and fabric (typically 100% cotton but I might also dabble in linen and other natural fibres too) so that the quilts don't just look good but also feel lovely. So much of what is sold these days contains polyester and its just not for me. I know others feel the same, so I do my best to avoid synthetic materials wherever I can.
I don't use any AI in my designs. Everything is made up by my brain, trained on the data from what I've seen over the 40+ years of my life. I also try to avoid using AI in my writing. My creative work is 100% human craft. I get more and more enjoyment from the imperfections in things created by humans and from the natural form. I think this is why I choose to quilt by hand with big, visible stitches and why I love the look of the crinkly textured effect of a washed quilt.
So if any of this resonates then check out my shop. I'm happy to consider suggestions for new colours and designs - just send me a message and I'll consider adding it to the list.
Hope you have a lovely day :)
Nic
