As my parents made a living in craft (needlecrafts and carpentry), I grew up with an interest in everything handmade. I treasure everything I have that my parents made themselves, from crochet-ed Christmas ornaments to hand-built cabinets.
And although most of my working life has been in retail, sales and admin, none of these ever gave me a true sense of achievement or satisfaction, which I now find that in my craft.
I began my journey a good few years ago, (though I did dabble in my teens), making pieces for myself and family and friends.
But in 2018 decided to take the step and try to turn my craft into a rewarding career.
And Rewarding it is!
When an idea in my mind takes form at my work bench, it’s so exciting., And it’s an amazing feeling when someone I haven't met and probably won’t meet, wants to buy my pieces!
My Workshop is home based, in Derry N. Ireland, and all items are made solely by me Claire.
And under the watchful eye of my two apprentices Juno & Stan ( the cutest miniature Schauzers you’ll ever meet). ……..Edit we recently welcomed a third furbaby into our family and she has made herself chief clerk of works!
As well as selling my pieces online, I am now a member of a group of artists who run the Derry Designer Makers shop in Derry’s craft village. So if you are ever in town, please do come in and say hello!
