Welcome to Becky Haywood Designs, I am a maker based in North Shropshire, primarily working with glass, I am also a printmaker.
I teach both fused glass and flameworked glass.
I am very lucky to live in the middle of nowhere, also know as the Shropshire countryside, I love it here and I am fascinated by the way the landscape constantly evolves around me and the wildlife that we get to see every day. I am a keen photographer and enjoy both photographing and drawing everything around me, many of these drawings are the starting points for my designs.
I am both a glass artist and printmaker.
In glass I divide my time between melting glass into a beautiful hot "blob" (technical term) cajoling, coaxing and occasionally bullying it into doing what I want in a technique called Flameworking, and working with kiln formed glass, which I use in combination with copper, working from my own drawings to produce evocative scenes showcasing little pieces of my countryside world.
In print I indulge in my love of details and delight in producing work inspired by the nature around me whether that be the insects or whatever is currently strutting its stuff in the local fields and hedgerows.
