Lovely leather stuff, made with heart.

Hi, I am a long term crafter who has been making things since Blue Peter first got me excited about what could be made from old washing up liquid bottles and sticky backed plastic. I've had a bash at many crafts over the years but always come back to those that have a very primal feel - pottery and leatherwork. There is something very soul soothing in working with materials that have been utilised for thousands of years to create things which enhance our lives. The skills used in these elemental crafts, such as leatherwork, have changed little over years. Making a wallet or a bag now requires almost the same type of tools, principles and skill as making a shoe did 5,000 years ago ( the oldest leather shoe ever found is 5000 years old). So, for me, engaging in and continuing these crafts is my way of tapping into the rhythm of what it is to be a resourceful and creative human. Our ancestors developed their skills and techniques through necessity, I am lucky enough to undertake them for pleasure.I get to make fabulous things in the warmth of my workshop for the sheer love of the craft ( I also get to use sewing machines sometimes!) but I hope that the things that I make are useful and beautiful too.
