Pet Portrait And Wildlife Artist
Hello my name is Alison and I'm a pet portrait and wildlife artist based in north Yorkshire England.
I create original hand drawn coloured pencil portraits using high quality light fast coloured pencils.
My portraits are created using Fabre-castle Polychromes and Caran D'ache luminance coloured pencils, i use these coloured pencils because they are light fast and this means your picture will not fade over time meaning it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
With these pencils i can create a high quality piece of work with great detail which makes your pet portrait unique capturing all there characteristics.
I have always had a passion for animals and the countryside i especially like walking and seeing nature at its best.
As a child i had great joy growing up with pets, from the smallest Hamster Harry though to the much larger horse Canni.
I have always loved Drawing, arts and crafts even doodling at every opportunity ( probably when i shouldn't), I'm now a self taught artist and i love it.
I started to draw more in 2021 after i sadly lost my mum very suddenly. My mum was always my number one supporter and encouraged me with everything i have ever done i found coloured pencils a great way to escape. This is were i really found my passion which i believe is reflected in my work.

A good reference is key to a getting your portrait to look like your pet, its all in the small fine details that a good reference will provide for me this will include fur detail and clear visible eye detail .
I work from one main image but welcome more to get a better understanding of your pets fur colours in different lights.
The best images are often taken at the animals eye level with good lighting but not in direct sunlight.
If you are unsure send some of your images and i can take a look for you .
I will always try my best to work from your images but unfortunately if the images are to poor quality and not clear enough for those all important details im afraid i would not be able to accept your booking .
My portrait style is head and shoulders, a full body portrait can be done but would need to be discussed when making your booking and quoted after viewing the reference photo
All portraits come mounted. Mounts are there to protect the work from potential damage and gives the portrait a lovely finish
