About Colourisation

Colourisation

Photographer, Illustrator, Designer

I am a creative designer / illustrator / photographer in an advertising world and is passionate about historical American social images, currently interested in photography from the FSA (farm security administration) photographers, in particular Dorothea Lange’s images between the years of 1935-1939 during the migration from the dust bowl vicinity to California, the whole episode is a fascinating disastrous history of man’s making.

This unique new book about Dorothea Lange in color is an education. It covers a brief history of Dorothea Lange, the FSA, the migrant experience, Woody Guthrie’s involvement, The Dust Bowl, The “Anti-Oakie” Hysteria and how it all ended with The times they are a-Changin’.

The USP of this book is that 70 of Dorothea Lange’s famous black and white images are now in full color with informative text, making this book very exciting indeed, historically and educationally as they have never been seen like this before.

Dorothea Lange Color gives a new perspective for everybody, showing how things really were during this period, fascinating for historians an scholars who have only viewed these times and images in black and white, the world was not black and white, so why remember it so. These people did have souls, now seeing them in color gives them dignity.

This book is not about improving Dorothea Lange’s work, her images are amazing and cannot be improved. It’s all about showing her work in a different light, in color, bringing the real events closer to the observer, giving you a more realistic view of how things were during these hard times.
