My name is Dawn and welcome to my Folksy shop. I have always had a love of making and creating with either fabric or yarn. I learned to knit from a very young age, there was always lots and lots of yarn in the house as my mum was a knitting pattern designer for magazines such as ‘Woman’ and ‘woman’s Weekly’ back in the 60’s and 70’s. Working with fabric and yarn is definitely in my blood, my grandmother was a costume maker in a theatre and my great grandmother, I’ve been told, could crochet a christening shawl so fine that it could be passed through a lady’s ring.
I began my sewing journey about fifteen years ago when I bought myself a sewing machine to make curtains for my home. I then fell in love with patchwork, quilting and machine embroidery which I often like to include in my work. I love creating decorations for the home and celebration decorations that can be used year after year becoming part of family traditions. However, I also like the challenge of designing beautiful small pieces of textile art that can be used everyday.

This is a gorgeous - and very snug turban ear-warmer. The double layer keeps me warm when I’m up on the Dartmoor Tors. Love the colours - my favourites. Very well packaged and smoothly delivered. Thank you.

I absolutely love my ear warmer it is wider than ones I’ve bought before which keeps me nice and cosy and it can double as a neck warmer.
