The Wire Lady is Sue Clews, based in Leicestershire she's been creating work in wire for many years now, exhibiting widely around the country.
I work at home in my Jellybean Studio creating new work every day and working on colourful projects for wire sculpture, jewellery and home accessories made from a variety of materials.
I originally took my inspiration from home accessories from the 1950s. At first I began making sketches and line drawings of black metal magazine holders, coat racks with coloured ball hooks, textiles and ceramics made in the 1950s. I played around with these images from my sketchbook and began making flat wire shapes with some bits of electrical wire that I had lying around my studio, before I knew it these little wire creations developed into my first wobbly basket.
