Buying from me
Golden Age Raw Honey comes from Gabriel’s apiaries by the Solway Firth in South West Scotland (Dumfries, Rockcliffe, Sandyhills, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, Hollywood, Dunscore), a scenic and pristine corner of the world, which soil and weather make it unsuitable for arable. We have one of the lowest pesticides inputs of the country. On top of this, I made sensible efforts to keep the bees away from pesticides. Here, the bees gather the delicious nectar from wildflowers. Our honey is clean, because your health and bees welfare matters.
We produce raw honey, this is unpasteurised and not micro filtered. Honey is living food, like an apple, when the honey is heated up to speed the bottling process, or micro filter to avoid crystallisation, you are losing on nutrients and medicinal properties: molecules break with the heat and vitamins, minerals and amino acids are exposed to deterioration. The micro filtering leaves precious pollen and propolis particles behind. With raw honey you are sure to enjoy the integrity of medicinal and nutritional potencial of honey.
Bees welfare comes first at this apiary. I only harvest honey excess and never go into bees own winter reserves, basically I do not replace their own food with sugar. I do clip queen's wings, cull queens or drones, move the bees to arable fields with pesticides, or translocate them onto lorries.
