Handwoven textile designer and maker

I am Claire Hunter, a textile designer and handweaver specialising in homewares and accessories.

Upon graduating from The Scottish College of Textiles in 1997, I worked for a Scottish mill designing top end furnishing fabrics and tartan designs for the UK, European and American markets. After ten years, I took some time to enjoy and spend time with my children and in 2016 I set up Taffled threads.

Based in Central Scotland I design using traditional techniques and weave on a 16 shaft dobby loom that is 150cm wide. This allows me to produce creative and complex designs. All fabrics are woven using high quality natural yarns and are produced in a sustainable manner.

Inspiration takes many forms, however I am particularly drawn to surface patterns, textures and colours which surround us in our everyday lives.

As well as designing my own collections I also love to work on commissions.
