I like to 'read the wood' it already knows what it wants to be, the story is already written by nature. I'm the vessel it uses to sail to that destiny.

Since a wee boy I have always liked making stuff, anything really and taking stuff apart (it was usually already broken, but not always).

Over the years I have gone through a great deal of phases, building stuff from bits of wood my dad bought back from his building site, building bikes from bits found in a skip, cobbling together electrical things that were never designed to be together. Making gadgets to do all sorts of stuff, restoring a classic car (that I never finished) and gutting and refurbishing rubbish or knackered houses.

I have always liked wood though, in later life I became a woodsman and started making furniture and other wooden products from the wood I sourced from the woodland management work. This is now my passion and along with my very long suffering, but very lovely, wife I'm building a traditional timber frame, off grid, eco house in North Wales. well, why not life is just too short.

Anyway, when I get time to make something, I usually sell it at craft stalls, but that seems a lot of effort right now so I thought I would join the Folksy clan, well I'm originally from Sheffield so I had too really. What’s not to like ;)
