About Sheep in Stiches

Sheep in Stiches

I am an organic farmer with over 400 breeding ewes who provide me with the wool for my creative craft work.

I am an organic sheep and beef farmer in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, farming 560 acres in partnership with my husband as tenants of the National Trust.
We have 150 Hereford and Shorthorn cross beef cattle and 400 breeding ewes and so I have a ready supply of Soil Association certified organic wool to use in my craft work.
I fit my creative work around my full time farming job, and at busy times such as at lambing time, I take a few weeks off to concentrate on the exhausting but rewarding job of seeing healthy new lambs into the world.

Sheep in Stitches started in 2011 in a low key way when I was recovering from concussion and found all I could do without feeling dizzy was sit still and sew. I made my first felt sheep ; a Swaledale, to which I added a needlefelted wool fleece and a realistic hand-embroidered eye, and from there I have gone on to design over 100 different breeds of sheep, cats, dogs, cattle, horses and many more.

My work has been featured in Farmer's Guardian. Farmer's Weekly, Woman and Home, Western Daily Press, NFU Countryside magazine and more and I sell my work all over the world.

My speciality is realistic pet portraiture using a method that creates a hanging ornament with a three dimensional effect. Many people buy my products to put on their Christmas trees so they have a lasting momento of the animals in their lives.
I have recently started offering these pieces mounted in a deep box frame or as a 3D framed sculpture, and I am always happy to quote for custom made, bespoke orders.
