I make handcrafted cards because every one is unique!

I'm Jean and I am a paper crafter specialising in making handmade cards from scratch. I live in coastal County Down, Northern Ireland and this area has inspired me. Especially the colours and light along the shoreline and coastal paths. I first began making cards around 5 or 6 years ago and my family are all very creative themselves, so I enjoy making special cards for them.

I think cards can show our family and friends that they mean a lot to us and it's a great way to mark all the special occasions. I draw inspiration from nature, love endearing images of cute animals and try to incorporate this style into some of my cards. I also like to look at fabric designs for ideas to bring to my cards, eg. card and paper with linen, damask, vintage designs. Adding detail to the cards is a big part of the designs and I am a bit of a stickler about getting the finish just right!

I am lucky to have a dedicated craft room that overlooks the garden and has lovely natural light, it's good to go in there and shut the door on the stresses and strains of everyday life. Fortunately for me, friends and family seemed to enjoy receiving my handmade cards, so that gave me the encouragement I needed to set up Sea Pink Cards on Folksy. I use Pinterest to see what everyone is up to art and craft wise, in addition to looking up some amazing recipes and checking out garden design ideas.
