Hand-knitted mittens and sometimes hats for adults and children

Following the industrious and thrifty examples of my grandmother and my mum, I have enjoyed knitting since I was a girl. As well as producing beautiful items for family and friends throughout their lives, they knitted beige and serviceable socks for the comfort and warmth of men away from home during the Second World War. I knit for the comfort and warmth of my family and friends too but also for joy, and a love of colour. Mittens, especially when warm and woollen, are my favourite knits. Many of these small and easily portable projects are knitted on journeys by car or train and the passing countryside often inspires my colour choices.
I don’t drive and I don’t have any pets; my needles are usually busy :)
