My name is Heather and I live in a village in Surrey on the edge of woods and meadows. It's a lovely spot, especially in spring when all the trees are turning green and the snowdrops and daffodils are coming out.

I have been a maker most of my life. My mum taught me to knit when I was five. I taught myself to crochet (but I'm not very good at it). I'm also a self-taught jewellery maker, although I have attended a few workshops. I started making jewellery in about 1983/84 and have continued on and off since then. I used to sell my work at craft fairs and through my website but I gave it up in 2013 when the last of our local fairs closed down and I just didn't have the heart to start all over again.

Moving on to now. I decided to re-start my jewellery business but online only this time. I decided on the name Riverfall because I wanted a word that sounded pretty but wasn't associated with anything else. I thought I'd made it up! Then I found out it means the journey a river takes from its source to the sea, which I think is lovely.

I tend to just buy beads and gemstones that I like and wait until they decide what they want to be made into. I like toning and harmonious colours and I like quite dainty jewellery. I suppose my inspiration comes from the beads and the silver themselves.

We do have a cat. She is part Maine Coon, a long haired tortoiseshell or as our vet calls her, a Naughty Tortie, and she rules the house. Her name is Amber. .
