My name is Mari, and I'm the owner of Picture to Puppet. I studied textiles at Edinburgh College of Art, and worked in dressmaking. Once I got asked to make a puppet, and I enjoyed it so much I've never looked back! I started Picture to Puppet 5 years ago, and now make over 1000 puppets and soft toys a year. I employ an assistant, Emma, who helps with the sewing, and provides tea and puns. Everything is handmade by us in my Edinburgh studio, and no two days are the same!
We specialise in glove puppets and muppet-style hand puppets. These can be based on a photograph of a person or pet, a child's drawing, or your imagination! My clients include educational programmes, TV productions, and many individuals. I offer bulk orders of up to 500, but there is no minimum, and most of what I make are one-of-a-kind creations. I work closely with every client to ensure that I make exactly what they envision!
