Hello. I'm Liz and I am one year into my journey as a crafter of leather. After chatting to a french leathercraftsman on my travels, I decided to see if I could replicate some of the simpler items he was making. It soon became apparent that this was an expensive and fascinating rabbit hole to go down and thought some training might be required! Books from the library were a start, but things really took off following a wonderful leathercraft course in Frome with an excellent mentor. I now make bags, wallets, journal covers and bookmarks, alongside bespoke objects and leather repair requests. I have learnt and continue to learn a lot about being patient, accepting that I will not always get it right first time, and of course the sheer joy of taking a leather hide and turning it into beautiful, practical items that bring a smile. Over the last year I have taken my wares to various craft and Christmas fairs in the south of England and have loved every minute, talking to wonderful like-minded people. Joining Folksy is a big step for me - my first online shop! I'm really pleased to be able to join a community of talented craftspeople, all enjoying the simple pleasure of making things!
