My artistic journey has always been guided by a love for the tactile world of fabric. It all began with dressmaking and has developed over the years to explore the creative possibilities of textiles.
During Lockdown I was inspired by artists on social media and began to experiment with different techniques and began working my way through my scrapbooks of saved ideas and to do lists.
Being aware of the need to reduce landfill and the impact of fabric production on the environment I began to think of ways to use even the smallest scrap of fabric and even discarded ends of thread. What I once thought of as discardable fabric is now my treasure. Nothing is too small to be excluded from my work.
My sewing machine is now my constant companion as I explore and experiment with textiles of all kinds. I love to repurpose textiles from car boots, charity shops and Freecycle and to find new ways of incorporating them into my work.
I love creating unique items that become treasured companions for their owners.
