Handmade jewellery that is a miniture wearable piece of art
Occasional Genius was born a couple of years after the birth of my second child. Having spent many years in corporate roles and now going it alone with two kids, it was time to go back and explore the dream of my 16 year old self.
...that 16 year old had spent her childhood, making, drawing, creating. She really wanted to go to university to study art. However, handed an amazing, can't turn down kind of opportunity in the corporate world by the mother of a friend, she took another route that led her to a career with an international brewer for 20 years. Fast forward 26 years and one October evening whilst on leave with a stress related illness, she made a decision to take another route. It took another 3 years and another child before Occasional Genius was launched at the end of 2015...
Initially focused on personalised nursery art and accessories, over the years as my youngest has grown up the nursery niche was no longer a space I was present in. After a couple of years I decided I still had that creative streak that needed attention, I needed to draw and create, and settled upon creating a range of hand drawn or hand painted jewellery. After another year of research and experimentation of materials and designs, I was ready to relaunch Occasional Genius.
Each and every piece of jewellery I create is a miniture wearable piece of art!
