Carbon negative, environmentally friendly, organic natural lavender.

We are Nene Valley Lavender.

From my dairy farming roots through to realising a dream with growing lavender. My Mum was the inspiration behind this, and many were the long nights we spent talking about possibilites and what could be. Well, this project is now starting to come together and although my Mum will sadly not see it, I know she is looking down and smiling and nodding wisely (well, sticking her tongue out at me anyway).

3 years since planting our first lavender we (this is very much a family project) are now getting a harvest worthy of a proper name. We have started with the munstead variety and this year have added some grosso. We will be adding further varieties in the future, all of which have slightly different properties which will produce differing products. We will soon be adding several bee colonies (save the bees!) and quail for the eggs. Further into the future we will keep rare breed goats and pigs, and we will open our farm up for tourism so you can come and wander around our lavender fields.

We cut our lavender flowers by hand and sort out all the bunches for drying and hang them in a dark well ventilated shed. We have a small still that fits on a cooker (a larger one is definitely needed for next year!) and we extract the essential oils using the age old steam distilling method to produce a wonderfully pure essential oil. We also blend the essential oil with various carrier oils to create lavender oil blends for many different applications.

This is just the beginning. Wait until next year.... (Don't shake your head at me like that Mum!)
