Hello I am Maxine Veronica, I was born and grew up in South Wales, my mum died when I was born so I was brought up mostly by my Maternal Grandmother, a wonderful lady who taught me to knit and sew from a very young age. I had by far the best dressed Sindy Dolls around. To this day the smell of old buttons takes me back to very fond memories and rooting around her ancient biscuit tin looking for the perfect button. Now I have my own collection of old buttons which I love to include in my work and a gorgeous granddaughter I can pass those skills on to.
My Paternal Grandfather was of Irish and Norwegian descent and used to make wooden galleons, my Father could draw brilliantly and my Mum was a seamstress so you could say art and craft is in my blood.
I am truly inspired by the world around me, who couldn't be inspired by the night sky, a vibrant sunrise or marvel at the delicacy and strength of flowers, listen to the dawn chorus or watch a beautiful butterfly dance around the garden.
I love to work with mixed media, especially creating scrapbooks to hold someone's precious memories, but I also love to make jewellery and teach both jewellery making and other crafts at my local adult learning centre here in Pontypridd, in the heart of the Welsh Valleys.
