Let me tell you the story of how Mavey Lane came about:

I work in the Dental field and have done so for many moons. I love Dentistry, but this was not what I initially wanted as a career...... I wanted to make and design jewellery.

Since I can remember I have always been attracted to jewellery. The different styles (minimalistic to chunky statement pieces), materials, textures, shapes, colours and the list goes on. In the end this wasn’t the career pathway I took and instead I closed the door to Destination -Jewellery and opened the door to Destination-Teeth!!

In December 2017 i sadly lost my beloved Grandmother (my Gramps). My Gramps was my best friend, confidant and the glue that kept our family together. We were like two peas in a pod, both very different personalities who bounced off of each other, we had an unbreakable bond.

Over the following months, it got me thinking about how precious our time is and not a day, hour or minute is guaranteed. Thinking of all the times I’ve said “One day I will do... One day I might....” and to start focusing on the now.

Working part time, I decided I needed a hobby to turn my wasted time into time well spent and in that moment a door began to creek open and it was the door to Destination-Jewellery.

So here I am, turning that spare time into something I love doing, making jewellery. My craft needed a name and I couldn’t think of a better one than “ Mavey Lane “, after a beautiful Soul I miss every day and who gave me the kick I needed to reignite my passion in jewellery and enjoy to the full the time I have: Mavis Agatha Lane 31st October 1934 – 2nd December 2017
