About Maria Alicia Jewellery

Maria Alicia Jewellery

Nature | Rocks | Space - British Jeweller

I'm Maria and I am passionate about this amazing ancient craft. Making things entirely from scratch using goldsmith techniques, I turn recycled precious metals and beautiful stones into something you can wear and cherish for years to come.
I live in an old cottage in Ravenstone in the National Forest with my husband and our 7 year old twins!

Jewellery wasn't my first job... I found it during my 9 year career in the ambulance service as a dispatch officer. Sadly the pressure took it's toll and after a tough year in 2012 and losing several loved ones, I booked onto a little jewellery course... and I've been making ever since.
I was hooked! I turned my spare bedroom wardrobe into a work bench and was obsessed at researching everything I could about it. It's one of the reasons I love it so much. There is so much still to learn.
After a few sales to work colleagues it took off and I worked on building a little side business for myself.
I'm now full time*, it's tough wearing all the hats especially in the current climate, but still ticking 10 years on *(I have a casual job I fill in for occasionally).

Looking back I realise my Grandad was a huge influence in what I do now. He had a passion for space and geology, collecting micromount minerals and observing the night skies with his telescope. It's some of those raw, natural stones and skies he showed me that influence some of my designs now.

In my spare time (!?) I am happiest in nature with the children. Walking, climbing hills and exploring local woods or visiting my parents on Anglesey in Wales and playing in the waves.

Thanks for reading this far... if you would like to know more about what I do drop me a message or check out my website.
I have some exciting plans in store for next year and will be offering workshop experience days to pass on what I've learnt, so watch this space...
