Unique, hand-painted reflections of magic and emotions

Welcome to the world of Laura and inside her head.

I mostly paint from my home studio, which sounds fancy but is actually a mountain of creative possibilities around an old table. I create what I feel in the moment. I usually pick a base colour palette and then let my imagination take the lead. I love watching my creations come to life, adding dimension and little surprises along the way. Every painting is an experience for me, a learning opportunity and a path of expression.

One of the biggest lessons in my life has been learning to accept things as they are and find the beauty in the imperfect — a philosophy that’s very much reflected in my paintings. None of them are flawless or perfect, and I find this wonderfully freeing. (It also saves me from arguing with a canvas that clearly has its own ideas!) In fact, some of my best pieces have come from mistakes that have made me have to switch directions and come up with something different than planned.

Creativity has always been part of who I am, and now, living with autism, ADHD, fibromyalgia, hEDS and osteoarthritis, painting and crafting have become my sanctuary — a way to stay grounded, joyful, and connected to who I truly am. My work has no theme throughout other than I created it - I've tried sticking to a theme so I have a signature look about my work but ultimately I have too many ideas and tangents that I can't stick to my own brief.
Each painting is unique, combining paint, plaster, and carved wood details to bring each piece to life, I also love to use shimmer and sparkles! There is also often a recycled element to my work, either going over old canvasses or using unwanted printed canvasses, as well as various other re-loved elements along the way.

I’m 39 and share my life with my two boys, aged 19 and 12, and three curious cats who love to watch me paint (and sometimes think they should be helping). Together, we make a colourful, joyful, and slightly chaotic household.

Each piece I create is a reflection of my world — layered, vibrant, beautifully imperfect, and full of heart.
