Create unique creatures from mixed media whilst trying to be as eco friendly as possible.

I sculpt fantasy creatures from fabric, clay, wire and various odd & ends. Hunting for fabrics bits n bobs, often using recycled material the thought of bringing an unwanted item back to life is amazing.
I have no formal training in anything to do with sculpting sewing or textiles. My mother showed me the basics sewing, knitting, crochet. I bought my first sewing machine 2 years ago along with several craft books then many youtube tutorials followed. I wanted to experiment with mixed media.
I am always learning, often by my many mistakes. I’m inspired by various artists, folklore, mythology, birds, insects, monsters and my own crazy thoughts. I see creatures in clouds, wood chip wallpaper, dreams and even my kitchen lino. There’s so many ideas floating around in my head I just want to try them all, if I live to 179 I just might.
I talk to my creations unfortunately they don’t answer back but that is usually when their name comes to me, they even have their own backstory. I imagine them dancing and playing when nobody is around, I could blame them for moved or missing objects but I think that culprit is Ziggy my cat.
Creating things is very important to me, it’s a good stress reliever and a journey, I get lost in a fantasy world. I don’t use molds each piece I create is unique one of a kind and so takes longer to make.
