Having learned to knit as a child I took it up again a few years ago as a hobby and knitted stretch hats and hand-warmers. I wanted to keep motivated to learn something new other than just using the standard knit/purl stitching so when I came across a pattern using cable stitches I decided to try it out. I knitted a cream coloured cable stitch neck-warmer for my niece and a Tweed blue one for my sister - they loved them and from that I decided to try different coloured wool to create some variety.
