Where it all began...
Hi, my name is Grace, owner and designer maker at Handmade to Hold. I have always been a maker, it all started as a kid when I used cereal boxes to make puppets!
In my early twenties I went to the Isles of Scilly on a working holiday, I was surrounded by beautiful raw materials such as sea glass and washed up shells. I found them so inspiring that I began making jewellery from them over the summer...opening an honesty box, cute huh?
Upon returning home to continue university, I would carry out lots of DIY to help renovate a family home, adding to my practical skillset and continue making gifts for friends and family. In my mid twenties I went to lots of weddings and found that decor hire could be very unimaginative and expensive. At the time I had an creative interest in macrame, this led me to make my first huge backdrop and I began hiring this out for weddings locally. Now, I have opened my own little online shop of eclectic jewellery and home accessories, taking inspiration from bohemian styles and nature.
My background is in wildlife conservation, I therefore hold environmental sustainability at my core and try my best to reduce the waste I produce through my work, avoiding plastic especially! My product packaging is plastic free wherever possible and I often up-cycle and re-use items wherever feasible. I truly believe that we all have a responsibility to consider our environmental impact as a producers and consumers and I look forward to developing some zero waste products in the future.
I make lots of large statement earrings and update colours regularly, please take a look around my shop for your handmade boho and rustic fashion and home accessory needs :)
