About Handmade Keepsake Hearts

Handmade Keepsake Hearts

I make curved heart boxes from straight matchsticks!

I started off my art and craft love story many years ago when I found I had a lot of time on my hands.
I first found that I had a natural talent for drawing, people, animals, still life etc. I surprised myself and continued to nerture my new found talent.
I reached a point where as much as I loved drawing, I found it restricting, and looked for ways to fill my time and express myself with more freedom so I picked up a paint brush !!!
I continued again to develop and enjoy painting, mainly with oils on canvass or board. I then began to study art properly and gained many qualifications.
Within some of the courses I undertook there were units on crafts. !! I began throwing clay and making things by hand and also on the wheel. This was the start of my venture into craft.
Somewhere down the line I felt I didn’t want to be restricted by rules and set ways ( as I felt !) and played around with many other media - and found matchsticks!!! I started with kits initially to acquaint myself and then started making my own objects, mainly decorative. I then moved on to decorative and functional and developed my own techniques and individual style - and have not looked back since.
I love what I do and love people’s reactions to what I make with my hands. Seeing smiles is always nice and heartwarming. I now spend pretty much all hours doing what I love and what better than hearts to express that?
So here begins the next chapter of my journey........... thank you.
