Fantoosh is an old Scottish word that mostly means ostentatious, over-the-top, flashy and perhaps pretentious. Most often wedding guests are referred to as being dressed up their 'fantoosherie'.
You may think it is a slightly negative adjective but I chose to name my business, Fantoosh, because I love the word and the way it sounds. I'm very proud of my Scottish heritage and the beautiful country I live in and I do love things that are a bit 'too much' - especially if they are floral!
I have loved sewing, crafting and 'making things' all my life and in recent years have rediscovered my sewing machine and the enjoyment that using it to sew beautiful and practical pieces brings.
I live in Fife, Scotland, just a stone's throw away from the countryside and in minutes we can be enjoying the stunning Scottish scenery. While my children are at school I can be found absorbed in sewing and creating gorgeous things from my beautiful fabric collection.
All of my items are entirely designed and handmade by me and my trusty Janome sewing machine. I am lucky enough to have my own little space in our house for crafting and designing my products.
Each and every item I make is finished to a high standard and I am very conscientious about making sure everything is perfect before being sent out to a customer.
Have a look in my shop and I hope you will be inspired by what you see. If you would like something made in an alternative fabric or slightly differently then I am happy to create a custom order just for you.
