Combining an instinctive understanding of style and design with the skill and passion of the artisan.

Design By Neb Abbott is a brand new enterprise I have started after a successful ten year career as a contemporary dancer. I bring with me a creative approach to problem solving that result in pieces with an inherent sense of performance, elegance and style. Whilst training I won several awards and was part of Heal's Discovers 2014 with 'Wasp' chair, that was also presented at The Salone del Mobile Milan and Clerkenwell Design Week. That same year I designed and made eight stacking benches for The Geffrey Museum, London.

Inspired by mathematical forms and nature, I create sculptural lighting that transforms itself and its surrounding when illuminated. Laser cut laminated birch components connect to create geometric forms. This process allows me to play with the ‘skin’ of these objects, a vehicle to explore the interaction of colour, pattern, shadow and form.

This first lighting collection by dna is born out of my two year experience in the furniture industry and recent time spent in my Prestwich based workshop. It brings together a passion for simplified and stylistic forms, using the precision of modern machine production with hand assembled and finished components. D.N.A regularly presents work to the public at Altrincham Market and have recently been invited to join Sale Arts Trail an open studio event showcasing designer makers and artists in the North West. In the future D.N.A. hope to offer a range of distinctive furniture pieces.
