I was always creative as a child and learnt to crochet at 10 years old.
I loved art lessons at school and passed to go to art school at 18.
I love painting landscapes ans still life in Watercolour, I hope to continue learning oil painting in the near future. I make jewellery using semi-precious stones and crystals, pearls both freshwater, shell and glass. Other glass and porcelaine beads.
Crochet is a daily activity making an assortment of items from small toys to blankets.
After marrying and having my 2 wonderful children life changed dramatically when I became disabled with ME with all it's frailty and despair.
I turned to creativity to find joy in my life I was able after about 10 years to do this slowly painting gradually crochet came back and then jewellery making came in.
I think painting is a creative process that challenges interpretation of a scene or object which has to provide inspiration. It is not purely a practical exercise as in crochet and jewellery making. Inspiration can be a fleeting thing, moved by a scene or photo.
I am now lucky to have a workroom which I can grow into.
These past 30 years have taught me that creativity really helps along the way, it provides joy in my daily life.
I hope making beautiful items makes people feel happy when they receive them.
I will be taking part in the Portishead Artport Festival in September 2023.
