Chris Stone BA (Hons) – Original Landscape Paintings Inspired by Devon & Cornwall
Hello, I’m Chris Stone, a Plymouth-based artist creating original, mainly small-scale landscape paintings inspired by Devon and Cornwall. My work focuses on coastal and urban places that are often overlooked—the everyday quiet corners and familiar views that are ignored or passed by, yet rich with character and memory.
I am particularly drawn to the relationship between painting and photography. Many of my works are inspired by the visual language of the traditional picture postcard—a souvenir that captures a feeling or moment in time, often presenting a slightly heightened or romanticised version of reality. These paintings are intended as hand-painted keepsakes, celebrating place, nostalgia and personal connection.
All of my artwork is based on locations I know well, informed by personal memory, on-site sketches and photographs. I work across a range of media, including watercolour, ink, acrylic and gouache, with a particular love for traditional watercolour painting on paper. I also enjoy experimenting with alternative surfaces such as Yupo and photographic papers, which allow for looser, more vibrant results.
My paintings are original, one-of-a-kind artworks, handmade in the UK. They are ideal as unique gifts, souvenirs of Devon and Cornwall, or small original artworks for the home.

Paintings are sold unframed unless otherwise stated, to reduce shipping costs and minimise the risk of damage.
Smaller paintings are supplied mounted or with mount options.
Unmounted works are protected with additional cardboard padding.
All artwork is posted flat in reinforced envelopes via Royal Mail First Class, with tracking on orders over £15.
Free UK shipping is offered on original artwork over £50.
I aim to be environmentally conscious and will use recycled packaging where appropriate.

I am always keen to develop and expand my practice. I hold a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking from Arts University Plymouth (2024). In 2024, I was awarded the Fresh Talent Prize by the Brownston Gallery, Devon, and I will be holding a solo exhibition at Brownston Gallery in 2025.
Alongside my studio practice, I am also involved in community art projects in my local area.
