Catherine has worked for over thirty years within the leather goods industry, from humble beginnings as a Saturday girl for the local clog maker to a degree at Cordwainers College and an apprenticeship with a West End Bootmaker. Catherine has worked with museums and galleries and has worked hard to develop the teaching strand of her business. Many of the skills that she teaches are being lost or forgotten as their traditional practitioners disappear; it is becoming vital that this knowledge is passed on to future generations.
Catherine also has her own collection of satchels, day bags, cases and accessories, made using the finest British hides. As well as working to commission on unique projects including historical replicas and collaborations, Catherine also restores and repairs leather. All items are hand-stitched and finished using a sound combination of saddler’s and shoemaker’s techniques - made to last more than a lifetime, gaining beauty and character as they age.
