Carol Akister

“Handmade crochet & sewn crafts by me, Carol!”

Shop Announcement:

This shop is very new so I am still working out how I want things set up! The only items listed will be ones that are already made. If you see something you would like in a different colour or size please reach out to me to see what can be arranged.

All items are made in a smoke-free and orange cat friendly home. I strive to keep my works as cat hair free as possible and all items go through a final quality check before shipment.

Cheers!

About Carol Crafts

Carol Crafts

Stitching together whatever tickles the fancy.

Salutations and welcome! My name is Carol and this is, of course, my little Folksy shop. Thanks for checking it out! Below you will find a bit about me if you're interested.

The picture is of my partner and myself on a trip to see the Giant's Causeway before I moved overseas permanently.

I have always loved making things and have been creative since I was very young. While sewing is a recent hobby, I have been crocheting and beading since I was about 8 years old when two of my aunts taught my younger sister and myself to make granny squares and hair scrunchies. I genuinely enjoy creating handmade gifts of many mediums to give to friends and family.

I have grown fairly confident in my crocheting skills over the more than two decades I have been practicing it. Most items are not worked from patterns but from my own imagination--over over and over again until I am happy--and then written down; having to occasionally undo and redo a section until you figure out a series of stitches that is just right is part of the fun!

At the end of 2024, I had to leave my decade long career as an ER/trauma nurse when immigrating to Scotland to finally be with my spouse. While I left my old life and job behind, I did bring my middle-aged orange tabby cat, Deargh, with me across the ocean! He is a constant companion and enjoys trying to sabotage whatever I may be working on when he isn't napping. He is the mascot for my shop!
