Here are some things just listed by other crafters and sellers on Folksy.
I have been making clothes since my grandma taught me how to knit and crochet in the 1970's, in Worcestershire, and became a full time knitwear designer in the early 80's in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After the birth of two of my children, I was awarded a degree in textile design at the University of Huddersfield in 1999, specialising in children's knitwear. After having two more children, I became a freelance textile designer specialising in crochet baby boots and accessories.
I have always been passionate about trying to save the planet, and I'm constantly looking for new ways to use sustainable materials and design practices. In 1999 I completed an award winning research report on green textiles, and chose not to be part of the hugely damaging and unethical mass-globalised textile industry.
I started making the baby boots for my children and then was asked by a local baby shop to supply them in 2010. I use recycled suede in as many colours that I can get hold of, and Norwegian wool, as it is lovely and soft. I would like to expand into using alternative materials which work well with my products, such as bamboo, which I have used, and vegan alternatives. I also make other fashion and home accessories. which I intend to add to my line of products at some point.
In 2013 I was asked by Folksy to showcase my products at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Kensington, London, UK.
I work from home in Hebden Bridge, which I share with two of my children (and one cat). I am also a home educator, radio presenter, graphic designer, music promoter, and enjoy growing food in my overgrown garden. A lot of my inspiration comes from the colours of nature and the changing seasons.
