Gorgeous handmade soaps for humans and dogs!

I retired from a stressful job as a Data Analyst just as the first Covid lockdown started. Pretty soon, I was bored and needed something creative to do; at the same time, I was becoming increasingly aware of plastic pollution and the damage it was doing to the environment. Also one of my daughters was suffering badly from OCD, spending HOURS washing and washing and washing using pump-action liquid soaps. It all came together when by accident I saw wonderful colourful soaps on YouTube, bought an online course from the wonderfully supportive Keri the Soap Coach, and was away creating soaps of my own in the utility room!
Pretty soon, I had so many soaps that we couldn't use them all. I was giving them away left, right and centre, and in fact if anyone slowed down outside our house I pressed a soap into their hands (well, OK, that's an exaggeration, but only just!).
What else could I do with so many soaps? I thought about selling them, and as I looked into that it became apparent that it was a long and costly process to do so legally, but in the end I had to bite the bullet and pay for a cosmetic chemist to assess the recipes.

Why did I name the business Almost Welsh Soaps? I consider myself to be almost Welsh (not completely, just almost!), my Grandad was Welsh (from Caernarfon), I've always lived in border counties (Cheshire, and now Herefordshire), spent all my holidays as a child on the Gower Peninsular, was taken frequently to the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and generally spent a lot of time in that lovely country called Cymru! And I always support Wales when they play England at rugby!! Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.

And yes, we've now considerably reduced our plastic waste as a result of only using the bar soaps I make, so RESULT! And we do have a cat, called Maccabee, who turns his little furry nose up at the very idea of using soap!
